This tour in the homeland of Piero della Francesca was organized by Podere Santa Pia in Tuscany. The tour starts in Arezzo at Piero's unrivaled masterpiece, the cycle of frescos named The Legend of the True Cross. In Sansepolcro, where Piero della Francesca was born in 1412, the Museo Civico displays four of his works, among which is the marvelous fresco La Resurrezione. In Monterchi we find the beautiful Madonna del Parto, one of Piero della Francesco's best paintings.
Our tour ends in Assisi where we visit the Church of Santa Chiara, the central Piazza and lastly the magnificent Basilica of San Francesco to admire the fourteenth-century frescoes by numerous late medieval painters, including Giotto, Simone Martini, and Pietro Lorenzetti.
During our tour, all these artistic delights are rivaled by some of the most entrancing landscapes Italy can offer: vineyards, pastures, small forests, wheat fields, and the cypress-lined roads running through them.
A panorama that is often dominated by the volcanic cone of Monte Amiata.
The homeland of Piero della Francesca was filmed in Montalcino, Arezzo, Sansepolcro, Monterchi, Assisi and San Giovanni d’Asso.
Podere Santa Pia is located in the small and charming village of Castiglioncello Bandini, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma.
